I was so afraid..

I have a gig at a self storage place, and I often find people's old... stuff... just left behind. This photo was in a space that had gone up for auction, and when all the dust settled, it was left behind.

After 60 days, they make me throw it all out... no matter how old/precious/important/awesome/valuable it is. I found this folder with all these reeeeeally old photos in it, and I couldn't bring myself to put them in the dumpster.

I don't know who this is, this baby, but the date on the back of the photo says Sept. 14th, 1942.

The quote is taken from a Eugene O'Neil biography I've been defacing all year... it's part of what his mother told him about his birth.

She said, "You were born afraid. Because I was so afraid to bring you into the world...afraid all the time I carried you. I knew something terrible would happen...I should never have borne you. It would have been better for your sake."
